Benedict Mason is a loyal supporter of Tom Zarek, working with him on the Citizens for Sagittaron Labor Reform.

Mason is present with Zarek when police forces storm the Labor Reform's headquarters and vandalize it; the act causes Zarek to disband the labor movement and form the Sagittaron Freedom Movement, which Mason becomes the second-in-command of. As part of his duties, Mason coordinates and plans attacks against government targets, in addition to organization's operations (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 2).

Mason is later imprisoned (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 3) after the destruction of the Labor Ministry Building in Sagittaron City (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 2).
