Amazon Unbox is an Internet video-on-demand service from Amazon.com, available for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems. Linux and other operating systems are not supported.

Content can be viewed via the Amazon Unbox Video Player, Windows Media Player, any PlaysForSure device or a TiVo. Content can also be streamed to an Xbox 360.

Rental pricing for feature length films range from $0.99 to $3.99, while television shows can be purchased for $1.99. Additional discounts are given for full season purchases.

Battlestar Galactica Offerings

Presently, Unbox offers both the Original Series and Re-imagined Series for purchase. No word has been given on whether or not Galactica 1980 will be offered as of yet.

Notes

  • In September 2007, Apple and NBC Universal canceled their deal to host all NBC related content on iTunes -- including Battlestar Galactica and Eureka. Instead, NBC signed a deal with Amazon to be included in the online retailer's Unbox service.
  • The Amazon Unbox video downloads are tagged with "defectivebydesign" because of its Digital Rights Management protection schemes.
