Master Technician Shadrack is the Fleet's leading engineer and technician.
With Adama's support, Shadrack—a man who has no love for politics—proposes and convinces the Council of Twelve that all the slow, sub-light ships can be successfully converted to lightspeed vessels in two weeks, much to Uri's objections (The Memory Machine).
Later, Shadrack is attacked by a space-mimic found in the magnetic void that masquerades as Junior Technician Whittaker; Shadrack manages to defend himself from it, bringing the body aboard Galactica, not knowing of its true nature, effectively releasing the mimic on the ship (Space-Mimic!).
