Fleet population

The Fleet population is an attempt to chronicle how many people are within the rag-tag, fugitive fleet from the Original Series. Unlike its re-imagined successor, a definitive number of survivors is never provided; however, losses and gains in population can be provided from aired content.

Based on the available data below, there has been an overall net loss of seven people between the post-Carillon end of "Saga of a Star World" and the final act of the series finale, "The Hand of God".

Saga of a Star World

• It is impossible to determine an exact count of survivors due to the numerous casualties incurred as a result of the Battle of Cimtar and the Battle of Carillon. Also, it is uncertain how many people were able to successfully escape Carillon before its destruction.

Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I

• Several Warriors infected with the Otarsis virus enter critical condition. It is unknown whether or not they are tended to in time.

Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II

• Serina is mortally wounded on Kobol by a Centurion. Net loss of one.

The Lost Warrior

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.

The Long Patrol

• The Fleet gains three persons: Robber, Slayer and their daughter, Tanya. No further deaths or births relating to the Fleet occur on screen.

The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part I

• Cadets Shields and Bow are destroyed with their Vipers by the Ravashol pulsar. Net loss of two.

The Gun on Ice Planet Zero, Part II

• Thane and Leda die on Arcta. Wolfe flees into the wilderness, leaving his ultimate fate unknown; he is incapable of returning to the Fleet. Net loss of three.

The Magnificent Warriors

• Belloby remains on Sectar. Net loss of one.

The Young Lords

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.

The Living Legend, Part I

• An apparently fully crewed battlestar, Pegasus, joins the Fleet. Its number of crew are unknown.

The Living Legend, Part II

• Pegasus is separated from the Fleet after the Battle of Gamoray. Sheba and Bojay are absorbed into Galactica's strike wing, along with injured crew members from Pegasus. Known net gain of at least two.

Fire in Space

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.

War of the Gods, Part I & II

• Count Iblis joins the Fleet. However, after he is revealed as the "Prince of Darkness" in his attempt to kill Sheba, Iblis is apparently abducted by the Beings of Light.
• Baltar surrenders himself to the Quorum of Twelve, who imprison him on the Prison Barge. Net gain of one.

The Man with Nine Lives

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.

Murder on the Rising Star

• Flight Sergeant Ortega is murdered by Karibdis. Net loss of one.

Greetings from Earth

• Commandant Leiter and his destroyer crew are brought to Galactica and are imprisoned on the Prison Barge. Net gain of at least twelve.

Baltar's Escape

• The three Borellian Nomen, Bora, Maga and Taba, leave the Fleet on Commandant Leiter's destroyer. Net loss of three, not including the loss of the Alliance officers.

Experiment in Terra

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.

Take the Celestra

• Commander Kronus is mortally wounded during the action to retake the Celestra from Charka. Net loss of one.

The Hand of God

• No net losses or gains can be determined based on the content of this episode.
• However, if Adama keeps his word, Baltar will be left on a reasonably hospitable planet, thus reducing the Fleet population by one.
